Android may be an open standard, but the way it is used by hardware makers is anything but standard.

It takes a lot of resources to verify that a particular hardware model works, and it’s an ongoing resource commitment as we add new features and need to confirm that they are backwards compatible with past hardware. One of the ways we have preserved our agility and ability to extend the Otegaru net / Scramble TV platform quickly is to keep the hardware variations to a minimum.  Running the device as an appliance requires working at lower layer in the Android build and is not going translate into an Android app that can be downloaded and run on all Android devices.

We will definitely be adding more supported hardware in the future though.
